I’ve read the argument that the new Bronco won’t be anything more than the Everest from overseas. Now, I’m sure that when we get it they will have built an all new version to sell globally because one Ford. But I can’t help but think that Ford, who has been on a roll with cars and trucks will take inspiration from Jeep to give us an open air 4x4 experience.

Example:
Current Everest

Plus the removable tops from the Jeep Renegade.

Kinja'd!!!

Equals a truck that carries the spirit of its great ancestors.

I honestly have no idea why nobody has taken a swing at the Wrangler recently. They sell a TON of those pieces of shit, and there has to be a good number of people in there who want what the Wrangler offers but wants something different from a Wrangler.

Completely agree. I think Ford could do it and basically print money.

They totally could. The Wrangler must be one of the cheapest and easiest to build vehicles...do what they do, slap a Ford badge on it, call it good.

Toyota tried. It’ll be interesting to see how the Bronco sells. Ford already has a stacked SUV lineup.

FJ vs Wrangler:

The FJ wasn’t enough, it was more like a 2 door Cherokee than a Wrangler. Whatever goes after the Wrangler needs a soft top at a minimum and removable doors possibly. Go full Wrangler.

Plus Toyota asks too much for its BoF SUVs

This. The last company to try was Toyota with the FJ which was way too big and a hard top, and it still has a huge fallowing. Ford could just make an F-150 cut the back of the cab off and give people a fiberglass removable top. You know like a bronco.

Exactly. I’d like to see them go full vintage Bronco: keep it small, give it a full folding soft top with a hard top option. I mean if you’re going to compete with the Wrangler, COMPETE with it. Don’t let people say the Bronco is cool but it doesn’t have X like the Wrangler.

I honestly can’t understand why this can’t be a thing. Ford would have nothing in this and yet make a killing.

Yes. I would love to see them go after in such a way that the new Bronco is a direct competitor to the Wrangler. Only, I hope if Ford does it that they make a 5.0 powered version and not just stick to the EcoBoost motors. If you can take the top and doors off you really need a motor that sounds amazing.

That’s a great point. V8 power would certainly give it an edge over the Wrangler. Offer that and a 6, maybe even an Ecoboost 4.

And the market is there. There are serveral after market companies that will take your Wrangler and put a V8 in it. From 5.7 to Hellcat.
